Morning Puja - Bodhicaryavatara

translation: Skilton and Crosby

When shall I find such rare circumstances again:

the arising of a Tathagata,

faith,

the human state itself,

the capacity to practise skilful deeds,

health and this day,

with food,

and freedom from disaster.

In a moment, life breaks its promise.

This body is like an object on loan.                                                     Ch 4  v 15-16

With as many prostrations

as there are atoms in all the Buddha-fields,

I throw myself down

before the Buddhas of  all three times,

before the Dharma,

and to the assembly of Bodhisattvas.                                              Ch 2 v 24

Refuges and Precepts

From the moment that I take on that Mind

to release the limitless realm of beings

with a resolve that cannot be turned back.

From that moment on

though I may doze off

or be distracted many times

uninterrupted streams of merit

like the bursting sky

continuously pour forth.                                                                      Ch 1 v 18-19

So, heart,

free yourself from fear,

devote yourself to striving for wisdom.

Why, quite needlessly,

do you torment yourself in hells?

Making a firm resolve in this way,

I shall strive to follow the training

as it has been taught.                                                                       Ch 4 v47-48
